Product description

Your guide will meet you outside the Stavanger tourist information 07.30. There will be 15 minutes walk to the pier, where we should take a ferry to  Tau. 

When arriving Tau, there will be 20 minutes by car to the harbor of Jørpeland city, which will be our starting point. 

This trip starts 20 meter above sea level, have fun on this mini- expedition to the famous Prekestol. 

About the route

We start very easy in the Jørpeland harbor. The adventure begins immediately with visit an old factory who produce electricity and maybe we see some salmon in the river?

From the river we enter the woods. Along the track you will see a very colorful woods, and if we are lucky, we may see some deers?

Rest of the route goes through forest landscapes, on narrow stoned tracks. You will be jumping over some rivers, keep you balance while you jumping from stone to stone. 

After the trip

Gratulation, you have done the mini expedition to the Pulpit rock. You deserve some nice food. We have special agreement with The Rose garden in Jørpeland city. Of course you should order some hot soup or some other very tasty meal?

After the dinner, we use the Tau ferry back to Stavanger and planned to be back approximately 19.00 (7 pm).

Join us doing the original way to the Pulpit Rock. To do this trip on the original track, off season, is fantastic. We will have plenty of time for photo stops, and the view is panoramic.

About the route

Depend of the weather, if poor weather we use the original track, if nice weather, go of the beaten track. If ice and a lot of snow, we normally use the original route. 

The hike takes around four hours and is around six kilometres. The hike starts from the parking by the Preikestolen Mountain Lodge. Located here is a service facility with toilets. The hike consists of slightly hilly terrain with a difference of altitude of 350 metres. The prime attraction on the hike you obtain on top of the plateau with a mesmerising view of the outstanding Lysefjord. Additionally, there are nice spots to take a dip as well as enjoyable resting areas along the path.

Part of the route is on fixed path, with stone and solid underlay. But this is a hike in the Norwegian highland so you need winter-clothes and good hiking boots.

What to bring: 

  • Functional hiking boots
  • Outdoor clothing. Waterproof jacket and pants
  • Extra pullover for brakes
  • Small backpack with additional clothing layers/thermal underwear
  • Gaiters (can be rented) on the hike "From the harbor"

On this hikes, not wear summer- thights or jeans. This is Norwegian winter highland. 

The weather changing quickly during autumn and winter, and it may be necessary to make changes to scheduled trips. If the trip got cancelled,  you may choose between joining the rescheduled trip or getting a refund. If we have to return during the trip, or turn around on the trail, no refunds will be given.
